Constituency Description
This constituency, located along the United States border in southeast Saskatchewan, has an economy that is based primarily on mixed farming, coal mining and oil and gas production. This constituency is also a major source of electricity with the Boundary Dam (Canada's largest lignite-fired thermal station) and Shand Power Station (one of Canada's newest and most environmentally advanced coal-fired power stations). This city, which averages more hours of sunshine per year than any other city, is known as the Sunshine Capital of Canada. The largest centre is Estevan with a population of 12,876.
