Constituency Description

Located in southeast Saskatchewan, this constituency has an economy based primarily on mixed farming and cattle ranching, there is also a large potash mine located near Rocanville in the constituency. There is some oil and gas exploration in the area as well.

The town of Moosomin was the first Saskatchewan community built along the Canadian Pacific Railway, which reached Moosomin in 1882 when the area was still part of the Northwest Territories. In 1905, Moosomin became part of the Province of Saskatchewan. Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan operates its largest mine 25 miles north of Moosomin.

The largest communities are Moosomin with approximately 2,361 residents, Grenfell with a population of 1,067 and Kipling with approximately 1,037 residents.
